five people (four women and bernard, a man in a blue shirt) stand in a line, lightly smiling. The woman on the left is holding up bunny ears behind her colleague's head.

Reporting

I’m a team leader and writer with the Earth Negotiations Bulletin, the de facto institutional memory of the UN’s environmental negotiations process.

It goes like this: big meetings like climate COPs have six or seven rooms full of diplomats negotiating simultaneously. It’s impossible to keep up, especially if you’re outside–or even if you’re inside, but just one person. My team and I show up, take copious notes, publish those nightly as a two-pager, and give you a clearer picture of where negotiations are.

I’m grateful and blessed to work with some of the smartest people in the world on these topics. I’ve gotten to brief and learn from veteran diplomats and ministers. It continues to be the trip of a lifetime.
